Requirements for Using Passive CardBus-to-ExpressCard Adapter
 

System Requirements:

1. Notebooks have USB host (South Bridge) enabled to provide High-Speed USB signal to PCMCIA slot (see figure 1 below)

2. Depends on the type of PCMCIA controllers used by notebooks, there are two types of adapters.
Passive CardBus-to-ExpressCard Adapter (RI):
Designed for notebooks built with Ricoh PCMCIA controllers including R5C811…
Passive CardBus-to-ExpressCard Adapter (OT):
Designed for notebooks built with Ti and O2 Micro PCMCIA controllers

Applications:

- Works with various types of USB interface based ExpressCard/34 PC Cards including:
1. 3G (EV-DO) and 3.5G (HSDPA) broadband modems
2. TV tuners
3. Media card adapters
4. GigaLAN adapters
5. Serial/parallel I/O Cards
